BACKSTORY. WIP: BEING REWRITTEN... harrison was born to parents michael and angela castle at the spencer memorial hospital in raccoon city. his parents were your typical working class couple, his father a police officer and and his mother a pediatrician. he grew up with a fairly normal childhood, though often had to spend nights with the neighbours when his parents were both working.it was during a rare night with both parents at home that tragedy first struck for harrison, who was nine at the time. he wouldn't learn the truth until many years later, but his mother and father had learned of umbrella's secret production of bio-organic weapons, and intended to come forward with their findings. to prevent this, umbrella attempted to neutralize them by setting their house on fire with both of harrison's parents, and himself, inside, and staging it to look like an electrical fire. they succeeded in murdering michael and angela, however harrison was rescued by the local fire and rescue service.harrison went to live in raccoon city's orphanage after that, which is where he met sherry birkin. sherry became harrison's only friend. she was determined to be his friend, as she herself didn't have any, and she could sense the same kind of sadness in him that she herself had. sherry still had both of her parents, but they were often not around, working in umbrella's labs. the two grew close over the next year, mostly thanks to sherry's determination to befriend harrison, who had closed himself off to most people and often refused to speak at all.around a year after the fire, another accident struck harrison's life. this time, though, it wasn't umbrella's doing, but his own curiosity. harrison had seen some of the other children being taken away from the orphanage by men in lab coats and he was curious to see what they were doing, because the other children often didn't come back from these trips. he followed them one day, only to end up lost in the arklay mountains, alone and unable to call for help.it was there that harrison encountered a bioweapon for the first time, though at the time he was unaware. he happened across a man on one of the hiking trails and approached him for help, but the man hadn't responded. he was greyish in colour, and he appeared to be injured, with many visible open wounds and an odd, shambling gait. harrison tried to ask if he was okay, and it nearly cost him his life. he was bitten by the man, an escaped bioweapon from the nearby umbrella research facility.his scream is what caught chris redfield's attention. chris was hiking himself when he heard the sound, and he went running when he heard harrison's scream. what he saw was little harrison, then eleven years old, backed against a tree by the man. at this point S.T.A.R.S had yet to be formed, and chris was unaware of the existence of bioweapons. he assumed that the man had been bitten by a rabid animal and, in an effort to save harrison's life, shot him. it was chris who rushed harrison to the hospital after discovering that the boy had been bitten on the upper arm, and chris who stayed by his side throughout the hospital stay after harrison subsequently had to have his arm surgically amputated to prevent the infection from spreading.harrison developed a sort of attachment to chris after that. he admired him, especially when he was recruited into S.T.A.R.S. sherry often teased him by saying he had a crush on chris, though it was all in good fun.two years after the formation of S.T.A.R.S, the spencer mansion incident happened (re1r). chris visited harrison one last time before he left to investigate umbrella in europe. harrison initially begged for chris to take him too, but chris refused, saying that somebody needed to stay at the orphanage to take care of sherry. harrison reluctantly accepted the responsibility, and he took it very seriously.months after chris left, raccoon city had an outbreak of the g-virus (re2r). harrison and sherry took to hiding in the police department during the outbreak, recognising that the city was dangerous. it was here that harrison made the connection with the man who bit him, and the people turning into monsters in the city. he realised that they were infected, though was at first unsure of what they had been infected with. the two were found by claire redfield, who took responsibility for keeping the two children safe. harrison recognised her as chris's sibling, having seen photos of her from the man himself, to which harrison informed her that chris had told him he was going to europe. claire found a note left by chris detailing the same thing, confirming harrison's claim.the three of them managed to escape raccoon city alongside leon s. kennedy, though not without their fair share of setbacks, including sherry being infected and subsequently cured, battling bioweapons, and disposing of chief irons. the four settled down in a motel, though leon and harrison encouraged claire to continue searching for chris. they were eventually found by government officials, who threatened that if leon didn't join their government program, they would hurt sherry and harrison. he agreed, in order to keep them safe.over the years, sherry and harrison remained in contact through letters and phone calls, where it became clear that they had developed romantic feelings for each other. the two agreed to try out long distance, and became an official couple when harrison was seventeen and sherry, sixteen. the two often encouraged each other to pursue their goals, reminding each other of what they wanted to fight for.harrison met chris again in 2004, six years after he left for europe. harrison was initially bitter that chris hadn't kept in contact, but he eventually forgave him after chris apologised and explained that he'd stayed away in order to keep harrison safe. harrison revealed that he and sherry were a couple to chris, who seemed unsurprised and ultimately supportive of their relationship, despite the long distance. harrison expressed his desire to follow in chris's footsteps and fight bioterrorism, to which chris was less than thrilled, and initially tried to obstruct him from doing so. this accumulated into a big argument between the two of them, with harrison resorting to silent treatment in response and complaining to sherry. sherry reached out to claire, who she had remained close with, and claire and jill valentine eventually beat some sense into chris, encouraging him to accept harrison's career choice.chris and jill personally took over training harrison whenever they were available between missions to do so, though harrison seemed more interested in the medical aspect, attempting to honour his mother's memory by continuing her work. it was jill who put harrison in contact with rebecca chambers, who pulled strings to get harrison into top government programs to continue his education in medicine.harrison was eventually recruited by the BSAA in the year 2009, shortly after the events of kijuju (re5), serving as alpha team's combat medic. chris kept a close eye on him, which caused further rifts in their relationship, as harrison was resistent to feeling as if he was being babied. sherry again had claire beat some sense into him, reminding chris that harrison was trained for this job now, and he knew what he was doing.piers nivans was recruited personally by chris a year later, in 2010. harrison and piers were initially cold with one another. harrison was jealous of the recognition that piers received from chris, though he refused to admit it, and piers returned his attitude, assuming that harrison had no reason to dislike him. it caused a tension in the team, to which chris had to sit the two of them down and tell them, in layman's terms, that they needed to get over themselves and stop acting like children. they were professionals, not kids on a playground.harrison and piers begrudgingly accepted that they needed to be civil, at least when they were working. in doing so, the two grew closer and closer, and their relationship eventually took a romantic turn. harrison was initially resistant, and tried to avoid piers, as he felt guilty about having feelings for piers whilst being in a relationship with sherry. he confided in chris, who explained the situation to claire, and the two hatched a plan.a christmas party. a small thing, really. chris and claire would host, and they invited anyone they knew who was available. leon, jill, rebecca, aya, austin, and of course harrison, sherry, and piers. harrison knew immediately what chris and claire were up to. he was riddled with anxiety the entire night, and when he had to introduce sherry and piers, he damn near had a nervous breakdown. the look of shock on piers's face when harrison introduced sherry as his girlfriend would stick with him for the rest of his life, he was sure of it. but to his surprise, piers took it in stride, and little did harrison know, sherry was already aware of his feelings for piers too. how could she not be? he spoke about the sniper all the time. she'd have to be oblivious not to have noticed, and oblivious she was not.sherry and piers hit it off immediately, much to harrison's relief and simultaneous anticipation. the night accumulated, for the three of them, in harrison eventually breaking down in the garden, apologising profusely to the two of them in what little sentences he could manage through guilty tears. to his shock, however, sherry wasn't angry. instead, she hugged him tight and told him that she already knew, and she was happy for him. the three didn't immediately form a relationship, but sherry expressed that she was okay with harrison and piers being together, and that she was interested in getting to know piers more, as well.by 2012, the three were officially a polycule. piers and harrison looked out for each other on missions and would report back to sherry whenever it was possible to do so. when chris went missing after the events of edonia (re6), sherry did her best to comfort harrison, piers, and austin while the three looked for him. she was supportive, and expressed a desire to help if only she didn't have her own mission with the D.S.O: find and detain jake muller. unable to give proper details, sherry could only tell harrison and piers that jake had information that the US government needed. they understood, and kept in contact as much as possible during their missions.only, sherry stopped answering their messages, and no longer returned their calls. harrison and piers were worried sick, and wanted to look for her, but were unable to do so because of their own orders. if they abandoned their mission, they would be seen as criminals, and they had a job to do. they spread the word that sherry was missing throughout their circle, ensuring that if anybody saw her, they'd let them know, but that was all they could do.six months later, they came across her in langshiang, accompanied again by jake muller. sherry and jake explained that they had been captured by neo-umbrella, to which harrison and piers were furious, but sherry encouraged them to focus on their mission; she still had a mission to complete. they reluctantly agreed, wishing sherry well on her mission and ensuring that she'd call again when she had the chance. it was piers who clocked the tension between sherry and jake first, and he pointed it out to harrison after the two had left. harrison was initially uncomfortable, but he opened up to the idea after thinking about it, realising both that sherry had kept an open mind for him about piers, and that this meant sherry had someone to keep an eye on her and keep her company when he and piers could not.hours later, chris was contacted by leon, who informed him that sherry and jake had been captured by neo-umbrella and were being held in a secret underwater research facility in langshiang, and that jake was the son of albert wesker, which meant his blood had antibodies that could be used to create a vaccine for the c-virus outbreak. chris agreed to go and help them, bringing harrison and piers alongside him, and the three of them managed to rescue sherry and jake. the five of them were forced to split when a giant B.O.W hatched, with sherry and jake escaping via a train tunnel, and harrison, piers, and chris, staying to take down the B.O.W. with the three of them present, they managed to kill the creature and escape via an escape pod before the facility self-destructed.the next day, sherry reached out once more. jake had agreed to let the government use his blood to create a vaccine, which meant that they had all succeeded in their respective missions. the moment they were all cleared to do so, harrison and piers hopped on a plane to meet up with sherry, who officially introduced them to jake. they had met him before, but they hadn't had a chance to get to know each other, having been in the midst of their respective missions at the time.jake was initially confused by their relationship dynamic, though open to explanation. though at first uninterested in pursuing anything romantic with harrison and piers, the three bonded unexpectedly. outside of jake's established relationship with sherry, it was piers who first developed a romantic bond with jake, the two spending time together and eventually agreeing to try a relationship on a night when harrison had taken sherry out on a date. several weeks later, jake approached harrison, and the two discussed trying things out as well. ultimately, jake was accepted into their relationship as the fourth person in their polycule.

BACKSTORY. WIP: BEING REWRITTEN... rune was born to parents stephen and shirley speyer. he had one brother, forest, who was eleven years older than him. rune and forest were close, and forest was amongst the first to support rune when he began experimenting with his gender identity as a young teenager. rune was diagnosed with arthritis as a young child, and learned to manage the pain through medications, inevitably leading to a dependency on his painkillers as he grew older and his pain worsened.rune's parents died when he was thirteen, leaving him in his brother, forest's, care. (pre-re1r) rune often visited forest at the raccoon city PD, bringing him lunch or visiting during forest's lunch breaks, which is how rune first met albert wesker. wesker and rune weren't initially close. rune was shy and awkward, and it was rare that wesker was in the office when he was there.it wasn't until two years after their initial meeting, before the spencer mansion incident, that wesker took an interest in rune. rune had been only seventeen at the time, reckless and stupid as most teenagers are. he and his friends broke into the spencer mansion as a dare. wesker saw them on the security cameras, and originally intended to use the security camera feed as combat data for the B.O.W's. rune and his friends proved inefficient, as they were not trained in combat. most of rune's friends were killed, however rune managed to escape the mansion. wesker intended to kill him to prevent him from telling authorities (or worse, his brother), however birkin urged him to reconsider, and wesker instead took him captive to use as a hostage if the need ever arose.the raccoon city police assumed that rune and his friends had either ran away or more than likely died on the mountains somewhere. search parties proved fruitless in searching for them, and their missing person's case was never solved. forest never learned what really happened to rune before he died during the spencer mansion incident in the may of 1998 (re1r).when wesker escaped the spencer mansion after his close call with the tyrant and lisa trevor, he initially gave no thought to rune. he had been keeping the boy prisoner for the last three months with the intent to use him as a hostage, or leverage if he had to. with forest and most of S.T.A.R.S now dead, wesker had no further use for rune. he told himself that they would ditch town and then he'd dispose of rune, either by leaving him at the side of some road or killing him outright, but the time never came. instead, wesker kept rune at his side for the next several months as he avoided making his survival of the spencer mansion incident known to the public.finally, months after the spencer mansion incident, it seemed redundant to wesker to keep pretending that rune was a mere captive. he gave rune the opportunity to flee, but it was a trap. if rune truly attempted to, wesker planned to shoot him. when rune didn't take the opportunity, wesker took it as a sign of some kind of misplaced loyalty. in reality, rune had become somewhat dependant on wesker's 'care', and recognised that he wouldn't make it alone without him. staying was his only option for survival, even if survival was a misery.they grew closer after that. wesker would feed rune with scraps of attention and affection, preying on the boy's vulnerability and loneliness to keep him loyal. what wesker needed that loyalty for, though, he did not know. only that the idea of rune ever leaving was unpleasant at best.his plan was working. rune seemed to flourish with wesker's eyes on him. he smiled again, for the first time since before rune saw his friends die in the spencer mansion.and then rockford island happened (re:cv). rune showed concern for wesker's wellbeing, for the first time since his abduction, expressing a desire for wesker not to go; he had a bad feeling about it all. wesker, of course, told him he was being ridiculous; he couldn't simply abandon a mission based off an eighteen year old's 'bad feelings'. little did wesker know, rune was right. when wesker returned to rune several days later, he was severely injured, covered in burns. rune lost his head entirely at the sight, inconsolable, because he had known this was going to happen, and wesker didn't listen. wesker had to calm him down and guide him through treating his wounds, explaining that it wasn't as bad as it looked and that wesker's viruses would heal him quickly even without medical treatment.from then on, however, rune insisted on being the one to treat wesker's wounds, no matter how superficial. it was one of the only ways he could feel useful, knowing that he would never be able to help in any other way because of his conditions.their bond continued in this way for many years after rockford island. wesker had come to care for rune, he had realised. the boy was dependant on him for his care, and wesker had become dependant on rune in a similar way. he was, in a way, as close to a son as wesker ever pictured himself having. he taught him how to defend himself should he ever need to, how to play the piano, even how to dance when rune expressed an interest in learning. in return, rune served as motivation for wesker. rune's conditions were chronic and incurable, and they served as irrefutable proof to wesker that the human race was inherently weak. in many ways, rune was the driving force behind wesker's greatest scheme; the uroboros project.the uroboros project was, first and foremost, a plan to further advance the human race. uroboros would cause those with certain genetic characteristics to mutate into what wesker would describe as superhumans. the plan was ultimately to release uroboros onto the entire world, with little regard for those who would die in the process. truthfully, however, wesker intended to infect rune with uroboros. it was his true and genuine belief that rune's body would accept the virus, and that uroboros would ultimately cure rune's ailments. it never occurred to wesker that rune's body would reject the virus. the boy was worthy, clearly, or wesker never would have grown to care for him. wesker did not care for weakness, after all. it didn't matter to wesker that that wasn't how it worked; his mind had latched onto this logic, and used it as motivation to further his goals.in the end, wesker's plan fell through. not because he failed, rune would tell himself, but because of chris redfield. chris had been a member of S.T.A.R.S back in 1998, and had been a friend of rune's brother, but when chris found him in 2009 and told him that wesker was dead, he couldn't help but hate him. chris did his best to fight for rune's rights when the government saw him as a criminal, insisting that rune had a severe case of stockholm syndrome and didn't know the harm he was helping to create.in the end, chris's efforts to help were in vain. a year after wesker's death, rune took his own life, unable to cope with the losses he'd suffered and the knowledge of the lives that he had inadvertently helped to harm.

BACKSTORY... austin was born to parents russell and debbie walker in van horn, texas. he was the third child out of a total of six children, but the first and only son his parents ever had. he had two older sisters, laurie and nancy, and three younger sisters, tiffany, cindy, and april. he and his siblings grew up extremely close on their family's ranch. logically, as the only boy amongst five girls, austin was playfully bullied by his sisters, often made to join in with playing dress up and dolls. despite them not being 'boyish' games, he joined in happily, letting his sisters do his hair, nails, and even put makeup on him and put him in dresses and skirts. he grew up to be very comfortable with his masculinity and sexuality.(post-re:revelations) austin was twenty-five years old, working on his family's ranch, the day he met chris redfield. chris was thirty-two years old, and had been driving to meet his sister, claire, when his truck broke down outside austin's family's ranch. naturally, austin went to investigate and help, unwilling to leave anyone stranded on an old backcountry road. it was love at first sight for austin when he saw chris, and he completely amped up the charm almost immediately, only to be confused when chris seemed oblivious to his flirting, unused to being rejected. the two hit it off despite that, and though they didn't immediately become friends, austin thought of chris often after that day.eventually, almost a year later, chris showed up unannounced at austin's ranch once more. he claimed he just needed a place to lay low, and austin and his family welcomed him in with open arms. after all, why would anyone look for chris redfield at some dusty old ranch? it was almost inevitable that the two grew closer after that, though chris was initially reluctant to admit it, and seemed bothered by the persistent teasing of austin's sisters.chris would stop by whenever possible, but sometimes it would be months between visits, and austin eventually confronted chris about why he wouldn't hear from him sometimes for weeks at a time, until chris came clean about his job. it was after chris opened up about what he does for the bsaa that their relationship finally took a romantic turn, around two years after their first initial meeting. they didn't put a label on their relationship for three more years after this, however their relationship was obviously romantic and mutually exclusive. it wasn't until 2009, after the kijuju incident (re5), that chris finally asked austin to be his partner officially, to which austin said yes.they were officially a couple after this for three more years, though they didn't move in together during this time. it was at the end of those three years that the events of edonia (re6) happened, with chris being injured whilst deployed, losing his memories, and escaping the hospital where he was being treated in 2012. austin worked closely with the bsaa, and in particular piers nivans and harrison castle, to find chris and bring him back, though he was never involved with missions or combat in any way.after the events of langshiang (re6), chris finally returned home to austin for the first time in almost seven months. austin's father had passed away during those seven months, leaving austin in charge of his mother's care and sole owner of the ranch, as his sisters had all moved out by then. a year after langshiang, and after the events of new york (re:vendetta), chris finally asked austin to marry him, and he said yes again. they were married a year later, before the events of alcatraz (re:death island), and have been married ever since.
